You do not need to be flexible or strong to do yoga, but you will improve both over time. You need to be willing to listen to your body and do as much of the practice that feels right for you. Yoga is not an exercise class. Maintaining a steady breath is more important than achieving the posture. In yoga you should never be out of breath.
General precautions
- Please advise me of any medical conditions or injuries. This allows me to plan modifications in the class so you practice safely.
- If in doubt please consult your doctor.
- Practicing on an empty stomach is more comfortable. In general that is about 2 hours after light meal and 4 hours after heavy meal. Do bring water to keep you hydrated.
- Do not come to class if you feel unwell.
- Yoga should not be practised in the first trimester of pregnancy.
